Most recently, she was Chief Financial Officer of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), where she oversaw a $1.2 billion budget and all aspects of the organization’s financial management. This position will build on Ms. Morcos Fraser’s financial leadership and relationship management skills. At CIHR, she spearheaded the development of a rigorous financial management framework and played a key role in maturing the organization’s resource management strategies. She was also a key liaison with central agencies and stakeholders and played a vital role in ensuring alignment and support for CIHR’s operations.

Ms. Morcos Fraser is a long-time advocate and champion of EDI in the workplace and brings a commitment to these values to all aspects of her work. As Champion and Chair of CIHR’s EDI committee, she promoted engagement across the organization to create a more diverse, inclusive workforce, and encouraged other employees to embed EDI in all aspects of their work.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Genome Canada family because I believe in the challenge-driven approach to its work. I plan to strengthen the corporate foundation to embed equity, diversity and inclusion in our culture and practices because that will make us stronger, more productive and truly reflective of the communities we serve. I am inspired by the potential research impacts built on the vision of an equitable, diverse and inclusive application of genomics. This is the foundation we need for real impact.”
