Large population based data sets hold the promise of transforming research in Canada and around the world.
Genome Canada and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research will be leading a consultation to seek input from stakeholders related to the cohort landscape in Canada. The goal is to advance collective thinking on the opportunities that exist to optimize collection and analysis of social, economic, environmental, health care, lifestyle, and human biological data in a manner that reflects Canada’s unique population, including Indigenous populations and founder populations.
A working group is being established to undertake the consultation, which will culminate in a meeting of key stakeholders in the spring of 2020. This working group will be chaired by Dr. Fiona Brinkman, Distinguished Professor, Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry and Associate Member, School of Computing Science and Faculty of Health Sciences, Simon Fraser University and Dr. Marc Gunter, Section Head, Nutrition and Metabolism, International Agency for Research on Cancer, World Health Organization.

Within the next few weeks, Genome Canada and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research will share additional information about:
