L\u2019industrie des produits forestiers est l\u2019un des secteurs qui contribuent le plus au PIB du Canada, mais son r\u00f4le a perdu de l\u2019importance en raison de la concurrence accrue, des exigences des consommateurs qui r\u00e9clament des produits de meilleure qualit\u00e9 et des int\u00e9r\u00eats d\u2019intervenants pour un meilleur am\u00e9nagement forestier. Un \u00e9l\u00e9ment important de la comp\u00e9titivit\u00e9 suppose une meilleure gestion de la biomasse foresti\u00e8re \u2013 une source riche de biocarburants, de mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res et de produits \u00e0 base de lignine tels que les r\u00e9sines et les fibres de carbone. Combin\u00e9s, ces produits pourraient gonfler le PIB de plus de 1 milliard de dollars.<\/p>\n<p>Gr\u00e2ce au financement de G\u00e9nome Canada, des chercheurs examinent les microorganismes trouv\u00e9s dans le sol qui d\u00e9gradent naturellement la biomasse.
